The Hillside Community Food Basket receives a delivery of food that includes a wide variety of staples, frozen vegetables and processed goods, a bag of fruits or vegetables from the Oregon Food Bank on the 4th Tuesday of every month. The site also picks up a bread/pastry donation from a local Safeway and, during the summer, receives fresh vegetables from the Providence Milwaukie Hospital Community Garden. Food Basket Volunteers set up canopies and arrange the food for distribution on tables for members to select once their number is called. There is no cost for membership. The site also hosts a variety of human services organizations during distribution who are hoping to get information out to people who could find their resources helpful.
